We represent around 200 artists at various times, with over 10,000 different stock items.  Therefore it is impossible to have everything on here at any time (plus you’d get RSI from trying to get through it all!).  So please let us know if there’s something specific you’re after- you can either email, call or drop into one of our stores.
We are often asked “where does the name come from”?

So here is our Story:

Here at Texan we aim to represent talented New Zealand artists and designers in a contemporary, non-traditional way.

We believe not only is New Zealand an amazingly beautiful & diverse country but so are it’s people. Therefore we focus on contemporary, quirky, well-designed gifts and products, rather than the traditional woolly sheepskins.

Each store although slightly different, caries a vast selection of veritable goodies, everything from Art, mirrors, ceramics, jewellery, home-wares and more.

This philosophy stems from our unique history. Texan was founded more than 15yrs ago as a unique forum for artists and designers graduating from Techs and Art Schools to show-case their work. Hence the name- a bit of a play on words: Get it Tex n Art schools (say it 3 times quickly). In fact many believe Texan was the catalyst for creating the “Design store” concept that now exists all over New Zealand. Originally, two adventurous mums set up the business, having realised the need for somewhere that new artists could go, that hadn’t quite reached the “gallery” stage but wanted to make a living from selling art.

5 years ago the business was sold, and with renewed passion and enthusiasm new stores were opened and the website created.

Now the business is available to be licensed throughout NZ and even around the world for other talented people with a passion for true home-grown talent.
