This retro styled box is a complete joy! We love the rounded corners, little feet and two toned wood. All of Annan's pieces are completed to perfection whether its a complex drawer/box like this or his simpler cable ties. This little storage drawer is perfect for trinkets, watches or even stationery bits and bobs. It comes nicely presented in its own presentation box and is branded with the 'Wood Chefs' logo at the base.
This piece is not your average laser cut and assembled product. It is a little art piece that has been carefully created from scratch by Annan and his son. Each one is therefore unique.
14.5cm length, 11cm tall, 9cm wide. Cavity of drawer measures approx 12.5cm wide, 6cm high and 6.5cm in depth
Materials: American Walnut and American hard Maple.
Here at Texan Art Schools we love nothing more than supporting the talents and creative endeavors of our local Kiwi’s. Wood Chefs is a family business and the creative outlet for the clever and very meticulous Auckland woodworker Annan Song. “The team is comprised of me and my son Mattox. I have a million things I want to make and Mattox often helps me out with operating the scroll saw, sanding and finishing whilst Pizza (our cat) and my wife enjoy their weekend.”
Annan is formally trained in architecture and has worked as a part-time graphics designer, creative beginnings. Over the course of his career he ended up in IT sales & marketing but never lost the urge to create. After years thinking about getting into woodworking he finally made the time investment and has not looked back. Woodworking has now become one of the favourite parts of his life. Mattox learns off his dad and sometimes gives him very clever ideas to achieve very difficult tasks such as lifting a120kg bandsaw! As a team they enjoy getting around complex design problems and realizing them in wood.
